I'm starting year 3 of my blog with a poem by by someone else. This begins my year of nurturing myself by building community and gaining inspiration through sharing. I have so many less than half baked ideas (more like lightly toasted) but I can't help moving forward on them.
Artist and friend, Kara Asilanis wrote this in 2005 but sent it to me this year with only a note "Wanted to share this with you, I think you know what I mean..."
Yes, I do.
In Between and During
In between walking and stretching and yawning -
Sleeping too
In between driving driving driving
To work
To school to
Picking up and dropping off and shopping and
Making love
And conversation and
Dinners and wine and
Meeting friends for lunch and catch up
Yes! I love it what you're doing you're
Growing so much! You
Inspire me!
In between the wondering and laughing and planning
And then the crying and fear
And in the moaning and groaning and shaking my head
At voices in my head who just kill me
Really they do
In between the freedom of not giving a damn and the joy of throwing
it all away
In between the classes and books and the days of not
Doing anything much
I like to paint
And
I like to write.
In between and during it all with great love
I live.
-Kara Asilanis
It is raining today but my marathon week is over, the hooks are cleared for summer gear and the studio is freshly organized. Today I feel completely at peace "in between and during".
